April Brumley Hinkle serves as a Principal Consultant with BlueLena Advisory, where she helps news organizations develop and strengthen earned revenue strategies spanning advertising, sponsorships, events and business development.
In this role, April works with publishers to build diversified and sustainable revenue models, drawing on decades of experience developing partnerships between media organizations, businesses and community stakeholders. Her work focuses on helping mission-driven publishers identify new revenue opportunities, strengthen sponsorship programs and create integrated offerings that connect advertisers and sponsors with highly engaged audiences.

April brings more than two decades of experience in media sales, advertising, sponsorship and business development. She spent more than 20 years at Texas Monthly, ultimately serving as Publisher, where she developed deep expertise in the commercial side of media and the creation of enduring relationships between publishers and their business communities.
She later joined The Texas Tribune as its founding Chief Revenue Officer, helping develop the corporate sponsorship and earned-revenue programs that became important components of the Tribune’s diversified business model. During her tenure, April helped expand traditional sponsorships into customized corporate partnerships incorporating events, digital products and other publisher assets.
April’s experience across both commercial and nonprofit media gives her a distinctive perspective on the opportunities facing independent publishers today. She understands how news organizations can build meaningful, mutually beneficial business partnerships while maintaining the editorial independence and community trust that are fundamental to their missions.
Through BlueLena Advisory, April brings that experience to publishers seeking to diversify revenue, strengthen their approach to sponsorship and events, and build durable earned-revenue programs that support long-term organizational sustainability.
