Why would I use DonorBox?

  • Publications use Donorbox to help drive donations.
  • Donorbox has been built for non-profits, with donor and membership models in mind. Donorbox is not a true subscriptions management platform and does not provide a paywall system.
  • Donorbox can operate as an account management system that allows users to update their payment information and contribution(s).
  • Publishers often take advantage of the straightforward setup and ease of use to implement onsite.

Why would a publication choose DonorBox over other paywall systems?

  • Donorbox is easier to use as compared to other monetization platforms because it does not require contacts to set up an account/password to make donations.
  • Donorbox has a wide variety of payment method options including Paypal and Apple Pay, whereas other platforms don’t accept either of these.

How do I create a donor profile? How do I login via Donorbox?

To initially set up a donor profile/account, navigate to the news site and click the donation button.

Note: Donors are NOT required to create an account/password, but they must enter an email when initially making a donation. If they wish to manage their recurring donation later on, they’ll need to log in using the email associated with the donation and use the “Forgot Password” button to send an email prompting them to set up a password/finalize creation of a Donor account.

How do I merge subscriber accounts?

If you find that a donor has accidentally made multiple donation accounts, you can merge them into one account using DonorBox’s “Merged Records” tool. For video documentation on how to conduct this process, see below:

How does a subscriber switch payment amounts?

When you open your Donor account, click on “Recurring Plans” and select the current plan that you’re on. This will pull up a page with all of your plan details, and underneath “Amount” you’ll select to change that.
